Teammates Mentoring of Osceola is proud to be presenting Miss Nebraska, Raechel Warren on April 16th at 2:00 PM. Raechel will be coming to Osceola Public Schools, visiting with our students about why mentoring matters. She will discuss the impact of long-term mentoring relationships and how TeamMates can make a positive impact in the lives of kids. We extend the invitation to all parents and community members to join us. Please consider attending our assembly to learn about how to get involved in helping our kids reach their full potential through mentoring and give Raechel a warm Osceola welcome. #ohsbulldogs #teammates

Here's a look at this week's activities:

This Wednesday, 8 JAG students attended the York Regional Career Day held at the Holthus Convention Center in York. Participation in this event allowed students to hear from keynote speaker, Johnny Quinn – USA Olympic bobsledder and former NFL player. Out of the many things he shared with us, he stressed the importance of being ready for unexpected opportunities that come our way; to embrace them and be comfortable in the uncomfortable.
Students were also able to attend a job fair, visiting with many employers about the career opportunities they have for them RIGHT NOW! Whether that be through job shadowing, interning, or working part-time! In addition, students attended three different panels that correlated with the different career clusters (Ex: entrepreneurship, manufacturing, human services, business & marketing, etc.). Students were able to hear directly from people working in those careers, their journey’s to where they are now, the sweet and sour of each career, and challenges or obstacles they navigated through.
A couple quotes I heard from students afterwards that made me smile were, “This really helped me decide what I want to do after high school,” and “I thought I knew what I wanted to do, but now I’m not sure.” While this second comment may seem backwards, it really speaks to if you open yourself up to different opportunities, they will present themselves to you.
We look forward to attending this Career Day again in the future for more students to experience it!
