State Champions

Osceola Bulldogs Girls Track Team:  STATE CHAMPIONS!!!  That sounds pretty good, doesn't it?  This has been a grueling season of ups and downs, but the girls put together a great performance this past weekend at Burke Stadium to put together a championship run (the pun there might have been intended).  This has been in the making for a couple of seasons now.  We have seen these girls grow and improve over the past couple of seasons with last year falling just short of a State Runner-Up finish on the last event of the day.  But they would not be denied this time around.  State Track participants included Senior Sierra Boden, Juniors Fayth Winkelman and Rori Wieseman, Sophomores Melinn and Janna Roberts, Savanna Boden, and Freshmen Camryn Peterson, and Addie Theis.

Fayth finished with the highest point total by winning the State Championship in the 100m, 200m, and the third leg of the 400m Relay.  She had a phenomenal meet and really set herself apart as an elite sprinter in the State of Nebraska.  She also broke the school record in the 200m with a time of 25.87 seconds.  Janna finished as State Runner-Up in the Pole Vault completing a jump of 10'6" which tied her with Mae Valish for the school record.  Janna also ran the opening leg of the 400m relay.  Rori Wiesman was able to place in both the 100m (6th place) and the 200m (5th place), Rori also anchored the 400m Relay team and the 1600m Relay team.  Savanna participated in the Long Jump and 1600m Relay, finished in 6th place in the Triple Jump, and ran the second leg of the 400m Relay.  The 400m Relay won their second straight State Championship with a time of 49.73 seconds which broke the school record that the group had set numerous times this season.  Also participating in the meet was Addie in the 100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and the 1600m Relay and to round out the participants, Camryn ran in the 1600m Relay and Melinn in the Shot Put.  Ella Lemburg was an alternate for the relay teams.

The season was an overwhelming success for Osceola Track and the girls athletics programs.  We are all so proud of the work the girls have put in and the rewards that have come with that work.  Our girls athletics program has fantastic potential and that was on full display in Omaha.
