Juniors Plan Delicious Fundraiser

The junior class, under the sponsorship of Mr. Ekart and Dr. Christensen, has a fundraiser planned that will get all Bulldog fans fired up.  At the football game on October 6, the juniors will have the concession stand.  At that stand, starting at 6:00 P.M., Raising Cane 's chicken fingers will be served.  That's right!  Customers will be able to get three golden chicken fingers, toast, and (Cane's famous) sauce for only $5.00.  The class has prepared for a large crowd, but don't wait until half-time to get yours.  With the nearest Cane's 55 miles away, having it in "Our . . .

Hays, Bryan Selected as Homecoming Queen and King

When the final buzzer sounded on the Bulldog victory over the Mead Patriots, fans and followers remained in their seats to witness the traditional crowning of the OHS Homecoming King and Queen.  The Homecoming Court is selected by the student body, which is followed by another vote on the King and Queen.  This year, students selected Brennan Bryan and Samantha Hays as their royalty for Homecoming.   Sam is the daughter of Chris and Jane Hays, granddaughter of Charles and Becky Hays.  Charles was a long-time educator at OHS.  Sam has had a very involved four years, participating in several sports as . . .

New Changes Coming to Osceola's Lunch Menu

  The 2017-2018 school year is going to bring some new and exciting items to the lunch menu. Starting in September, Osceola Public Schools will begin its "Beef in School" program. Each Thursday the school' lunch program will incorporate beef that has been donated or purchased from local farmers into its menu. Osceola Public Schools would like to thank Grant and Daisy Naber for donating the first quarter beef to this program. Dazzlers 2017-2018

The Dazzlers are in full swing getting ready to cheer on the Bulldogs! Starting practice at the beginning of summer, they have been working hard on preparing for the 2017-2018 school year. This summer the Dazzlers had a cheer camp for students in grades Kindergarten through eighth. They had a great turnout with over forty students attending the camp. The Dazzlers performed with the kids from the camp three times at different community events. The Dazzlers are looking forward to cheering on the Bulldogs this year. Go Big Orange!!!

FFA Consignment Sale

   FFA and FFA alumni had their 8th annual consignment sale. Fifty cosigners and nearly 200 bidders rushed to the Polk County Fairgrounds on August 27. The sale began at 12:30 P.M. and wrapped up around 5 P.M. Also at the sale, the FFA officers ran a concession stand. The money that was raised will be used to support the FFA chapter and help with long-range projects at the school, such as upgrading the welding area in the shop. The sale was a big hit doubling last year’s sale volume. Mr. Schmitt would like to thank everyone who helped make it possible!

Welcome Ms. Evans

This school year we are welcoming new band/choir teacher Ms. Sarah Evans! Ms. Evans grew up in North Platte and attended Doane University. She has acquired a lot of experience in choir and band from participating in both throughout her high school and college years. In fact, Ms. Evans was given the chance to go on a choir tour in college to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Ms. Evans says it was one of the greatest trips she has ever taken. Her knowledge and experiences will be very beneficial to our school and students. Ms. Evans’s goals are to get more people involved in band and choir. Higher numbers of people can lead . . .

Teeing Off to a New Year

   On August 18, fifty-one middle school students went mini-golfing in Columbus for the annual middle school kickoff event. To make the day even more exciting, a competition among the families was held. The golf tournament gave the families an opportunity to encourage each other while building a sense of familial unity. Everybody had a wonderful time on the greens, but eventually one family was able to pull ahead in the competition. At the end of the day, a winner was crowned with Staehr’s Swashbucklers coming away on top. The middle school was able to finish the day on a sweet note with blizzards at Dairy Queen on the . . .
