Dollar General Literacy Grant

September 24, 2018

Pictured is Mrs. Carnes with the manager of Dollar General manger, Tara Doell.

This year Mrs. Carnes wrote a literacy grant to increase the lower level reading books in the elementary library.  We are proud to announce that Jeffery Elementary is the recipient of the $2000.00, 2018 Youth Literacy Grant from Dollar General Literacy Foundation.  The Foundation’s grant program was extremely competitive with more than 2,500 grant applications received. Mrs. Carnes’ grant proposal was selected.

“The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is proud to be an ardent supporter of schools, libraries and nonprofit literacy organizations,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s chief executive officer. “Dollar General’s mission is Serving Others, and this commitment comes to life through Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants that will impact thousands of students across the country.

So far Mrs. Carnes has received 7 different grants for Osceola Public School.
