Embroidery Class is Stitching Away

Mrs. Peterson has kept her embroidery students on their toes this school year. Grace Zelasney, Hayden Watts, Jordan Nutz, Shadric Dake, Tad Racek, Caden Theis, Garrett Fisher, Gage Juracek, and Ellie Gaston are students that embroider items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, blankets, jackets, and much more. This class has already accomplished a lot of work. They just finished doing football banners for the OHS football team, along with embroidering shirts for faculty member Tom Fritz. Anatomy Class Takes a Field Trip

On Tuesday, October 2, the high school anatomy class, taught by Mr. Caraway, traveled to the Polk County Fairgrounds to attend the health fair. Upon arrival at the fairgrounds, students were greeted with a nutritious breakfast while learning about the health benefits of eating breakfast every day. After a filling morning meal, everyone browsed the various booths sponsored by the Osceola Good Samaritan Society, Polk County Health Department, Annie Jeffrey Health Center, and many more businesses and organizations. OHS Works Gets to Work!

   After several months of planning, OHS Works is up and running.  OHS Works is a work-based learning program. Students spend part of their day in the classroom and a portion of their day working in the community with a job coach. Osceola administration and high school resource staff worked with Amy Salma, ESU 7 Transition Specialist, and Hannah Miller, Vocational Rehabilitation of NE Employment Specialist, to ensure the program will meet the needs of the students as well as benefit the participating businesses and organizations. In August, Osceola Public Schools hired Ryan Dickey as a job coach to . . .

Yearbooks for Sale

If purchasing a yearbook slipped your mind last year, you're in luck! A limited quantity of Elementary Yearbooks are for sale for $20. Purchases can be made at the elementary office. Remember, supplies of elementary yearbooks are extremely limited and are on a first come, first served, basis. Also, if you're interested in a high school/middle school yearbook, extra annuals are available at the high school office for $45. Please contact Mrs. Erhart with any questions.

Box Tops for Education Appreciated

Osceola schools really appreciate the ongoing support from Box Tops donations. We receive around $500.00 yearly from your donations. This money is split between the Elementary, who brings in the most, and Middle School, who does the counting and shipping. To make it easier for Middle School students to prepare the Box Tops, please DO NOT tape, glue, or staple Box Tops to ANY sheet of paper. Each Box Top has to be within the expiration dates of our shipping date. So if one has expired, we have to throw it away, leaving that paper with fewer Box Tops.
