2018 Girls Track & Field

The girls have been working hard lately. The track team has seven girls: Sam Hays, Kylee Bockman, Emily Theis, Makenzie Pinney, Mollie Rathjen, Olivia Drozd, and Kylie Johnston . On March 19, a former successful track athlete from Osceola, Gordie Coffin, talked to the track team about important traits that determine success. Those four traits include desire, diligence, discipline, and dependence. Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month. The Autism Speaks website defines autism or autism spectrum disorder as “a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences.” The website also states that many types of autism are caused by an array of genetic and environmental influences. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 1 in 68 children in the United States are affected by autism, more specifically 1 in 42 boys and 1 in 198 girls. Activities Banquet

The Activities Banquet will be held on May 10th at the downtown Auditorium. All high school students are encouraged to attend as they will receive honors, certificates, pins, and letters for their achievements over the past year. Parents are also encouraged to attend to see their students be recognized (and also to take photos!). The evening starts with a potluck meal.
